Joy Ride

Although not necessarily a “house band” per se, newly-formed local “party band” Joy Ride did book a full winter season of shows at Henry’s on the Boulevard in Mt. Pleasant and at the three Wild Wing locations across town — and they must have made a positive impression on our readers.

The core of the band features former members of Sold Out and the Foxy Mondays. A long list of local musicians served as auxiliary players during the core of those bands’ recent golden years, including singers London Weidberg, Madison Weidberg, Lindsay Jackson, and Holly Rainwater, as well as Lance Gatch, (drums, bass), bassist/guitarists Kevin Kless and Dave MacIntire, and drummers Jim Ratcliff, Jack Berg, Eric Rickert, Verno Munroy, Paolo Liccardi, and others.

Just a few months ago, Bryant and Carter began playing as a loungy jazz/pop duo called Carolina Connection, which gradually led to the formation of the current Joy Ride lineup. Perhaps this “family band tree” by City Paper‘s Steve Stegelin will better illustrate the tangle of talent within the solid new lineup.
