Carrabba’s Italian Grill

N. Charleston. 2150 Northwoods Blvd. 824-0404

Carrabba’s Italian Grill opened in 2004 at Northwoods Mall. The company that owns Carrabba’s also operates the wildly popular Outback Steakhouse chain, and the Italian grill seems to have nearly as many fans, if not as many locations. Johnny Carrabba and Damian Mandola opened the first Carrabba’s in Houston in 1986 and partnered with the OSI Restaurant group in the mid-90s to help take over the world. You might have seen the founders on PBS — they’ve got a show called Cucina Toscana along with several cookbooks including Ciao Ya’ll. It’s Italian food by way of Texas and the menu features your standard fare –spaghetti and meatballs, calamari, shrimp scampi, and chicken marsala. It’s the kind of place you’d take your grandma, your cousins from the upstate, and even your foodie friends, and everyone’s going to walk away stuffed and satisfied.
