A week and a half away from the kickoff to the festival, the Lowbrow is in peak information-gathering mode — ears to the ground, eyes on the horizon, finger in the air, all senses on high alert. Unfortunately, he’s also in peak panic mode: struggling to research and write some dozen preview features on festival artists for next Wednesday’s paper, putting together the paper’s Arts and Screen sections as he does every week, keeping abreast of critical developments in the local arts and entertainment scene, madly scheduling audio podcast interviews and video shoots, boning up on the hundreds of Piccolo and Spoleto artists about to take over the city, and trying to keep himself fed and in reasonably hygienic condition in the meantime. (As a matter of fact, the Lowbrow would probably be seriously considering a diaper right now , were he not concerned about being taken for a psycho-stalking ex-astronaut.*)

You’ll be pleased to learn, though, that he has managed to record the first of many audio clips and — with the aid of intrepid CP webmaster Joshua Curry — invoked the magic incantation that transforms it from a simple .mp3 file into a podcast: Spoleto Buzzcast #1. It’s more of a welcome than an actual mid-fest-style ‘cast, but you get the drift. Many thanks to the talented Mr. Matt Bivens for this year’s intro and to bassist and editing expert Mr. Ash Hopkins for making it sound nice.

(* The Lowbrow will never be mistaken for an astronaut.)
