On Monday, the Democrats rolled into town for the CNN/YouTube presidential debate. The day started with crowds of people gathering outside of the Joe Riley Stadium on Lockwood Blvd. to show support for their chosen candidates. Biden and Obama were well represented, while local Republicans, surely feeling a bit left out, dispatched a plane to fly overhead with a “Stop Hillary Now” banner. By 6 p.m., those lucky enough to get tickets were ushered into their seats at the Citadel’s McAlister Field House for a two-hour debate that proved truly memorable. Afterward, the Dems took over Deas Hall on the Citadel campus where the candidates made their way before heading off to their own afterparties. Hillary’s team took over a ballroom at the Marriott, where she gave a thankful speech to a crowd that got a little taste of victory after her performance at the debate. The night wrapped up with a truly astounding party put on by CNN, YouTube, and Google. Edwin McCain played while guests ate, drank, and stalked celebrities like Richard Schiff from West Wing, Anderson Cooper from CNN, Rachel Shelley from The L Word, and Rhys Coiro from Entourage.
