John McCain and Mike Huckabee’s total votes combined for the South Carolina Republican primary was 279,723. Barack Obama alone recieved more votes yesterday than the GOP’s top two finishers with 291,000.
Total number of votes cast in the SC Republican primary: 442,918
Total number of votes cast in the SC Democratic primary: 526,322
The turnout for the 2004 SC Democratic primary was roughly 290,000 – a 75% increase in 2008 compared to 2004.
