La Pizzeria

976 Houston Northcutt Blvd.

Mt. Pleasant. (843) 375-4607

Crisp and chewy, charred ever so lightly from their brick oven, La Pizzeria’s hefty slices are big and delicious. Leaning in the Italian style of the most popular New York City corner pizzerias, these slices are thin and wide. For lunch and dinner, the pizza chefs usually keep a selection of six or eight pies on the display counter to check out (the most colorful ones feature fresh basil, fresh mozzarella or gorgonzola, thinly-sliced Italian sausage and cubed ham, artichoke hearts and other veggies). They never overload them with too much cheese or sauce, which keeps things from getting greasy. Their garlic-y tomato sauce is well balanced and only a little bit sweet. The white pizzas (made with ricotta, mozzarella, and parmigiano cheeses) are tasty. Their garlic-sautéed shrimp or clams make a nice addition as well. Quick, affordable, substantial, and flavorful. That’s amoré!
