New Music Collective

A diligent gang of unusual musicians, composers, and improvisors, the New Music Collective — founders Nathan Koci, Philip White, and Ron Wiltrout, in particular — regularly demonstrate a dedication to the off-kilter side of things. Every season, they commission, book, promote, record, and perform some of the most adventurous (and weird) music in town — oftentimes at out-of-the-ordinary venues. “We are prepared to put the American South on the cultural map of the world in a new way, bringing new and exciting music to Charleston and beyond,” they say. Sometimes, the events feature a bill of local players. Sometimes, it’s a renowned international artist. Sometimes, it’s a collaboration between both. It’s uniquely modern, either way.
