“Gentlemen, when you step into a room, does your beard enter before you?” asks the HCBMS theme song, written and performed by member “Captain Crawdad.” When CofC Professor Paul Roof founded HCBMS last year to find fellow beard lovers to socialize with, it’s doubtful he expected they’d soon be pushing 50 plus attendees at their monthly pub nights. To celebrate one year of bringing back (18)’80s facial hair, they’ll even be featured at a RiverDogs game in May dubbed, “A Salute to the Yankees’ No Facial Hair Policy: Beard and Moustache Night.” Whether you’re fully hairy, working on some stubble, or sporting just a few curly strings, HCBMS accepts all beards, of all varieties.
