There are lots of great places in town to get classic Southern fried chicken (such as Jestine’s, this year’s readers’ pick for best fried chicken). The Long Point Grill takes it up a notch. The regular menu features a boneless chicken breast fried up light and crispy in a buttermilk batter and piled atop creamy mashed potatoes and tangy collard greens. There’s usually more fried chicken on the special board, too, dressed up with a spicy sauce or a fruit compote and served with sweet potatoes or parsnips or some other unexpected side. Mama never made fried chicken this good.
