After two Egyptian-born men were arrested last summer in Goose Creek for allegedly carrying explosives across state lines, we ran a story looking at Charleston’s high profile terror targets. We looked at the Naval Weapons Station, the Port of Charleston, Savannah River Site, The Arthur Ravenel Bridge, and downtown. We were warned not to start a panic, but felt comfortable just taking a look around Charleston at what might interest terrorists. Oops. With the issue on the rack for less than 48 hours, there was a bomb scare near a downtown Starbucks when concerned residents (readers?) spotted a bag across the street with a cell phone sticking out the end. Traffic was redirected for hours and a few classes at the College of Charleston were canceled before the package was detonated and found to be just a misplaced bag.
