Steve Hit Mikes’ I Got So Hammered

A low-budget album with cover art depicting a crucified Jesus under the title I Got So Hammered — that’s about as punk as it gets these days. Released last winter on their own Anarchy Pancakes imprint, local four-piece Steve Hit Mikes’s five-song EP follows through with a highly-amplified, full-energy sound. Lead singer and guitarist Jeff Riddle gets raw-throated, but stays in control through such gems as “Shut Up,” “Spreads Like Disease,” and “Fuck the Cops” (it sounds like they mean it). Unpolished, genuine, hard — it’s a great punk record.
