Some people think that Charleston Grill’s new menu, divided into four disparate themes, ruined an entirely good thing. We couldn’t disagree more. Where you once breathed in the aura of overwrought French sauces squeezed into a rusticated base of re-interpreted Lowcountry slave cuisine, you can now sit down to some of the most luxurious ingredients from across the world — prepared in ways that speak to their origins and the cultures from which they derive. Call us radical, but being able to sit down to coconut curries and Niçoise vegetable tarts alongside Osetra caviar and pan-seared foie gras makes for some interesting dining — and the most splendidly diverse menu in the city.
