They’re not really Ivy League, but the Harvard Sailing Team is among the elite sketch comedy troupes out there. Based in New York City, the Sailing Team first came to Charleston for the 2007 Piccolo Spoleto Festival. They wowed us with sketches like the one in which husbands bark like seals while their “wives” twaddle on about travel and home decor. With the high quality line-up of the 2008 Comedy Fest, it was going to take a lot to be among the best. But that’s what Harvard Sailing Team did. With jokes about being given the key to the city by Charleston Mayor Charles Charleston, they had us rolling from the get-go. Here’s to even more appearances by the only Ivy League sketch comedy ensemble that isn’t.
