Lowcountry Live

By tradition, television morning shows are inherently silly affairs — light, fluffy, insignificant, and often vacuous and annoying. Some are better than others. Saturday Night Live‘s spoof of the genre — featuring Cheri Oteri and Will Ferrell doing a show called Morning Latte — was the best. Fortunately, WCIV’s Lowcountry Live is in the good hands of excruciatingly cute host Ryan Nelson, spiky haired co-host Brian Goode (who recently replaced spiky-haired Skytracker Team’s Dave Williams), and grinning anchor-lady Angela May. They achieve an entertaining balance of local news and events, colorful interviews, and quirky, off-the-cuff shenanigans. During his amusing season-long run last year as musical sidekick, local pianist and blues singer Gary “Shrimp City Slim” Erwin was virtually the Lowcountry’s version of Paul Shaffer.
