Thomas Ravenel was sentenced to 10 months in federal prison for handing out cocaine to his friends.

Reports leading up to to today’s sentencing suggested sentencing guidelines would put Ravenel’s sentence somewhere between 10-16 months.

Prosecutors told The City Paper a few weeks ago that Ravenel’s sentence could be further reduced following sentencing if he continues to provide information that proves useful in the investigation.

Neither have to report to prison for 5 months while investigators probe for more information about the Lowcountry drug scene. Prosecutors were waiting to see how accurate the information was that both provided. If it proves to be successful, both of their sentences could be reduced.

Ravenel’s drug dealer, Michael Miller, also was sentenced to 10 months today, with three months already served.
