The creation of the Charleston International Festival of Choirs was announced today. The festival, which will consist of at least 20 choirs, will take place April 16-19 in venues to be determined around the city.

Much of the line-up is yet to be announced, organizers say. The hope is that the festival, led by Judith Wiloughby, a professor of music at Oklahoma City University, will add to the Holy City’s choral tradition and its reputation as a travel destination, according to a press release. —Myles Hutto
