It’s a good thing local punk rock fan Van Elliot phoned me up last week to make sure City Paper knew about the just-confirmed, all-ages Dwarves gig at the Oasis Bar & Grill (788 Folly Road, 843-225-2522) . We might not have known a thing about it. The gig is set for Fri. Oct. 24.

[image-1]The notorious San Fran-based, gimp-masked band started out in Chicago in the late ’80s, and made its biggest and filthiest splash on the punk/alternative scene in 1990 with the release of Blood, Guts & Pussy on then-fledgling Sub Pop label. They hit Charleston on the way from Florida up the East Coast behind a new disc titled The Dwarves Must Die, their first release in four years.

Led by singer/screamer Blag Dahlia (a.k.a. Blag Jesus), the lineup on the album features guest performances from Dexter Holland from the Offspring, Nick Oliveri formerly of Queens of the Stone Age, Nash Kato from Urge Overkill, and others. Fans might expect a few disgusting and entertaining stage-show sex acts during and between songs. Antiseen, The Uprising, The 33’s, and Motormouth Mabel share the bill.
