I held off on mentioning the first negative mailer in the James Island/ Folly Beach state House race, but I’ve gotten a second mailer from a second independent, left-leaning District 115 voter who says they’re turned off by it.
The new one goes farther than the first ad, stating in a bold headline that Scarborough is a “danger to your family,” complete with Scarborough’s mug shot. But the content at least mentions the real issue of out-of-control traffic on James Island.
I was talking with one voter a few weeks ago who lived in the district in 2006 and still didn’t know about Scarborough’s armed run-in with two SCE&G workers, so bringing it up may be helpful. But Peterson Hutto risks turning off more voters than she’ll pull in.
