The National Journal Online is reporting that the Obama transition team has picked Congressional Budget Office Director Peter Orszag to be the head of the new administration’s budget director.

There had been some speculation that Congerssman John Spratt (D-S.C.), who chairs the House budget committee would be selected. It’s likely that Spratt would have declined the post anyway, considering his well-placed role in the Congress and the fact that his district would be very much at risk for Republican takeover in as an open seat.
