Sen. Jim DeMint’s opulent Christmas decorations may be all he has to celebrate this holiday season. The Federal Elections Commission is requiring the South Carolina senator to pay a $25,000 fine for accepting donations that exceeded the legal limit.
DeMint’s campaign spokesman says this isn’t an uncommon situation in long, complicated campaigns, which should make anyone worried about DeMint’s apparant attempts to become pointman on improving the economy.
