Politico, or more precisely the GOP, takes a bite out of Sen. Jim DeMint.
DeMint says that GOP leaders have tried to openly sabotage his reform plans while secretly praising him at the same time. Considering they’re openly praising him, it’s more likely that they’re secretly sabotaging his reform plans.
The general sense you get from the Politico piece is that DeMint is just. too. much.
“No doubt,” DeMint said, Republican leaders were “trying to humiliate” him.
But some Senate Republicans say privately that DeMint has done plenty to humiliate himself.
DeMint is less willing to compromise with Democrats than many in his party, and some Senate Republicans doubt his fiery tactics can lead their party out of the political wilderness when the public is seeking an end to legislative gridlock.
