Just after the election, we noted that the White House was taking a renewed interest in assisting the nation’s municipalities, particularly through a White House Office of Urban Policy.
We half jokingly suggested that it would be a great job for Mayor Joe Riley, an Obama supporter and apparent camera hog during the crowd shots at the Democratic National Convention. That job went elsewhere, but we weren’t far off the mark.
The Post and Courier’s Robert Behre is reporting that David Agnew, a close aide to Riley and a very earlier Obama supporter will serve as a liaison between the administration and mayors across the nation.
