If you haven’t seen it yet, find yourself a copy of the latest issue of Dish, the City Paper’s biannual dining guide (and my personal labor of love).

We’ve got it online, but the hard copy is so much more satisfying to look at and read. The cover — a basket of crusty rolls from Normandy Farm — could not be prettier, and the stories are varied and interesting — if I do say so myself.

The story I’m most proud of is my piece on Brett Maynard, the well-respected and well-loved chef who died in a car accident in November. I was able to use the back page of Dish, usually reserved for an essay by a chef, to pay tribute to a humble guy who did great work and pleased many in our local food scene. His family and friends were so gracious and open in talking with me, and it’s evident that they miss him very much.

Please, share your comments, suggestions, and feedback on the issue. I’m always looking for new ideas too. What do you think about a cover on bacon next time?
