Dottie Ashley‘s byline returned weeks after being laid off by The Post and Courier. Her column, “Arts Around,” once again appeared on page 2 of the Arts and Travel section, this time focusing on Charleston Stage‘s upcoming production of Steve Martin’s Picasso at the Lapin Agile. The newspaper cited her as a freelancer based in Mt. Pleasant. It must be a sigh of relief for some in the arts scene, in particular local theaters. Other than City Paper‘s, Ashley’s was the only other dedicated voice for the arts. Besides, hers in still in the daily paper and despite all its troubles, Charleston’s daily paper still has the greatest reach. So, given all that, it’s good to see Ms. Ashley is back in action.
