Kidd, who lives in Mt. Pleasant, generated the most buzz this year thanks to the big-screen adaptation of her best-selling novel The Secret Life of Bees. Starring Jennifer Hudson, Dakota Fanning, and Queen Latifah, the movie is set in 1960s South Carolina and follows Fanning on her quest to learn about her mother. Chick-flick lovers everywhere were in heaven.
