You will be forgiven if you confuse the Ali Baba on Daniel Island with the one on Houston Northcutt in Mt. P. Both have Mediterranean food and opened in January, but they have different owners and they are completely unrelated. Apparently, the South Carolina Secretary of State’s office has declined to do anything about it, but the City Paper staff generously came up with a list of alternative names (the consensus winner being “Bobby Ghanouj’s”). Now we just need a coin toss, arm wrestling match, or tabouli taste-off that will decide who gets to keep the Ali Baba name.
