262-264 Meeting St. Downtown

Want an easy way to entertain a young’un in downtown Charleston that doesn’t cost a thing? Take a walk through Ansonborough, mosey on over to Meeting, and look at the old fire-fighting vehicles they’ve got at the Central Station. Built in 1887, the building houses all kinds of old-timey equipment, like a horse-drawn steam fire engine and a 1948 Mack Pumper. And the firemen, being firemen, are super nice and usually pretty happy to show you around (save there isn’t an emergency that needs tending to).
