You don’t have to sit for very long at FIG’s bar to realize that they might have the coolest old-school setup in town. Classic cocktails define the house specialties, rare whiskies and such jiggle the ice cubes in numerous glasses, and inevitably, some old sap becomes intent on figuring out what the weird-looking glass jar contraption with silver spouts jutting from its sides is used for. Out comes the jar, the bottle of 130 proof swill, sugar cubes, and ice, until the whole bar is sniffing and tasting and wondering if the green fairy will truly send one into a hallucinogenic trance during the walk home. No luck yet, but we keep going back and trying.
