Brides fantasize about a scenic beach wedding about as much as grooms fantasize about bachelor party strippers. And the Isle of Palms offers a variety of McMansions perfect for those vows in front of crashing waves or a killer sunrise. Just, please, for the love of God, don’t try to capture this moment with professional photography! The city has made so many threats of $1,100 fines for doing business on the beach that local photogs have started turning away IOP brides looking to preserve their special day. Asked about losing wedding parties to friendlier shores like Sullivan’s Island and Folly Beach, interim Mayor Carol Rice told the City Paper in December that the town wasn’t offering brides anything more than sun, sand, and surf. “We’re not a catering venue,” she said.
