Best Place to Bike to and Pretend You’re Not Downtown

Magnolia Cemetery

70 Cunnington Ave. Downtown

Tucked away at the outer edge of downtown off of Meeting Street, Magnolia Cemetery sits quiet and undisturbed. The cemetery is full of big Spanish moss-covered trees, paths that appear like they haven’t been paved for a couple of decades, and rusted gates encasing tombstones with some old Charleston names, all surrounded by water inlets and marsh. It’s an easy bike ride from downtown; just watch out for Mack trucks and hissing geese on your way in. But trust me, after a couple of Bloody Marys and tree climbing (not necessarily in that order), you’ll be glad you visited.
