In the last year or so, everyone’s tightened the grips on their wallets, resulting in the sad demise of some great local stores with not-so-competitive prices. And while we’ve learned to make adjustments to our spending habits, some new stores have cropped up to take their place: consignment shops. Over the last few months, many have opened up around town while the more established ones have seen a surge in business. Unwilling to sacrifice the labels they’re accustomed to, some shoppers have learned to accept the gently used in place of spankin’ new. Others have brought in their designer duds for cold hard cash. It works both ways.
