American Theater

We heartily endorse the use of any and all tools in the name of building a better form of entertainment. And very little else wipes off the crusty schmutz of high-brow pretense as well as melody evoked from the arc of bendy steel. Lilting and warbling, the musical wonder of the workshop falls hauntingly on the ear. Even “My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean” takes on an other-worldly grace. While Happenstance Theatre’s Low Tide Hotel, part of the Piccolo Fringe Festival, did not lack for conspicuous wonders, if it had, Mark Jaster’s whimsical performance on the saw would have neatly squared up any number of lesser delights.
