Another Charlestonian has made it (or is about to make it) big, this time at the 8th Tribeca Film Festival going on in New York City April 22-May 3. Libby Spears, film director, has been nominated in the festival’s Discovery section for her new film Playground. Executive produced by George Clooney, Grant Heslov, and Steven Soderbergh, Spears documentary follows the dark side of the international child-sex trade, beginning in the brothels of South Korea and Thailand and ending in a study of one of the trade’s major players, our own U.S.A. We’ll be wishing her the best of luck. —Hadley Lyman
