Charleston hard-rock band Leslie (I still like calling them a “power trio” in the vein of the James Gang, Minutemen, Rush, and the Who-minus-Daltrey) celebrate the long-awaited release of a new EP titled The Rebel Souls with a big gig at the Music Farm on Sat. April 4.

Local band Firework Show and Nashville’s Sterling Y are on the bill as well. The show is co-presented by local stations the Bridge at 105.5 and 98X.

Lead singer/guitarist Sadler “SG” Vaden, drummer Jonathan “Blown Motor” Carmen, and bassist Jason “Nick Cave” Fox recorded the four-song disc in Memphis at 747 Studios with producer Paul Ebersold (3 Doors Down, Saliva). Advance tunes are available at the band’s MySpace page. The entire collection will be available on iTunes, Amazon.com, Napster, Rhapsody, and other sites on Tues. March 31.

Leslie also heads out to Austin for three showcase gigs at the annual South By Southwest conference this week as well (they’ll rock out at the Belmont, Lovejoy’s, and Nuno’s Upstairs).

Look for a full interview with all three member of the band in the music pages of the Wed. April 1 issue (they chugged all the black coffee we had in our conference room this week…). Check out www.myspace.com/leslierock for more.
