We sent Scenester Cara Kelly to Gene’s Beerfest on Sunday. Here’s the lowdown:

The first annual Beerfest at Gene’s Haufbrau benefiting Pet Helpers attracted a healthy hoppy crowd on Sunday. With 15 beers from several different distilleries, attendees’ thirsts were adequately quenched. Four-dollar pints of pale ales, lagers, IPAs, seasonal brews, blondes and porters were on tap, and a liquor station took care of mixed drink fans. Pearlstine, Advintage, Sparten Distribution, Republication National, ATL Brewing Company, and Lee Distributors were on site with their favorites, hydrating the lively crowd. Lindsey Holler and guests along with Blue Plantation Band provided live entertainment and plenty of food was on hand to keep drinkers from feeling the negative affects of consuming excessive amounts of the delicious microbrews. Rumors abounded that next year the party will move to the alleyway behind Gene’s to provide more space. Beer fans can only hope.
