Mike Farris’ big Friday

Acclaimed singer/songwriter Windjammer on the Isle of Palms.
Farris made a splash in the late ’90s as lead vocalist with Nashville-based alternative rock band Screamin’ Cheetah Wheelies. His recently released gospel-styled solo album Salvation in Lights was more of a boisterous roots-rock tent revival than a traditional Southern gospel album. His latest disc is titled Shout! It’s worth looking for cool live footage of Farris on YouTube; the guy can belt it out like a champ.
Presented by Suncoast Promotions — the local agency headed by Dan Henderson, who first brought Farris this way last year — the performer plays a special house show at the oceanfront spot at 3116 ion Street on Sullivan’s at 7:30 on Fri. April 24 (tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door).
He heads west to the Jammer for a solo set at 9:30 or so, opening for Doug Jones and his mates from Greenville’s veteran southern-groove-rock combo Cravin Melon (tickets for this show are $12 in advance and $15 at the door).
