Jack McCray, Charleston’s best jazz writer and former staff writer for The Post and Courier, is on Lowcountry Live right now. He’s on with Leah Suarez to talk about Upstairs at Mistal series produced by the Jazz Artists of Charleston. He just responded to one of the host’s comments about jazz. Even if you’re having a bad day, he said, jazz will make you feel good.
To this, Mr. Jack said:
“A lot of people think it’s snobbish, that you have to know something about it to enjoy it, but it’s not. You just have to submit to the swing and you’re going to be fine.”
