At about 8:25 p.m. tonight, the press office at the Spoleto Festival called to inform me the performance by Noche Flamenca had been canceled due to rain. The concert was set to start at 8:30 p.m. Sounds lame, I know, but most people appear to have figured out all on their own that lightening and dancing, no matter how fiery, don’t mix. I went down to the Cistern to see if there were people angry about not being informed in advance. But few were at the entrance. The helpful ushers said I could get a refund at the Gaillard box office or exchange my tickets for a seat at tomorrow’s or Saturday night’s performance, also at the Cistern. Oh well, I needed a break anyway. For more, call 843.579.3100. -JS
