Christophe and Carly Paume met at a chocolate factory in Indiana, and after deciding they could do the business better themselves elsewhere they packed up their bags and headed south. The couple then found their perfect location, the I’On Village Walk in Mt. Pleasant, settled in, and opened up shop just five weeks ago.

Christophe Artisan Chocolatier is the newest addition to the Charleston chocolate shops with this one serving up gooey eclairs, vanilla creme pate a choux, and of course, homemade chocolate of various styles.

“My husband is French so we were going for a European style with chocolate bars covered in whole nuts, and fruit on top of the candy,” says Carly. Together the duo tackles the whole trade themselves with Christophe making all of the chocolates and pastries from scratch and Carly managing the storefront. Inside the store you’ll find chocolate sculptures made by Christophe as well as various cake toppers. If you’re feeling adventurous, forget buying a birthday cake and replace it with one of the larger sculptures made of luxurious chocolate. Carly adds of the chocolate designs, “One piece everyone stops to stare at is the chocolate stiletto heel — all the women just love it!”
