On Tues., June 30, Oak Steakhouse will host the photographic debut of Diana Deaver. Deaver participated in Pecha Kucha 2 at the American Theater, and she’s known particularly for her fashion photography and for seeking beauty in the everyday. Deever veers into new territory with Vertex, a beautiful photographic project highlighting day and night perspectives of the Ravenel Bridge. Deaver explains her inspiration: ““In modern mathematics, a vertex is a center where many paths meet. For me that’s Charleston. … As a portrait photographer, I aim to capture the spirit of my subjects and I wanted to try that with something huge, something gigantic like the Ravenel Bridge, which is in fact a Charleston personality.” The photographs will only be on view during the opening on Tuesday from 5-9 p.m. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served and prints will be available for purchase.
