Students and local artists will compete to design a mural to be painted on the Children Cancer Society Thrift Store in Avondale Point.
The Avondale Point Business District and the City of Charleston Business Services Division are sponsoring the Avondale Point Mural Competition this August through September at Avondale Point. Artwork will be displayed throughout storefronts to be voted on by community members.
The theme is “Avondale Point: Recycled. Reinvented. Renewed.” Artists are asked to look through images of Avondale from the past and draw their inspiration from Avondale’s history and present. Entries must be square paintings, digital pictures, graphic designs, or graffiti.
Artists are limited to three entries. One entry costs $10, two is $18, and three is $25. The money goes to the installation cost of the mural. All entry forms must be submitted by July 31, and all artwork August 3-18. For more info, contact Alexis Gross at email@example.com.
