Calling their cuisine “heritage cooking at its best,” Craves Soul Food is ready to reveal a substantial menu of Southern and Lowcountry specialties and favorites next week.
Located on upper Meeting Street just a few yards north of the Ravenel Bridge (between Cedar and Huger streets), Craves picks up in the spot where Freddie’s used to serve steamy shellfish and Southern fare.
So far, Craves’ menu boasts more than a few rice specialties (they call them “prioleaus” pronounced “purloos”), as well as smothered pork chops, gumbo, pig’s feet, party sandwiches, turkey wings, soups, seafood salads, sweet potatoes, and a variety of desserts.
The facility has lots of parking, roomy meeting spaces to accommodate receptions and parties (with wifi capability and caterer’s kitchen), and additional catering and delivery.
