One Charleston family will soon wake up to the sweet-sounding bullhorn call of a hunky construction worker.
Ty Pennington and the crew at ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition are looking for a Charleston family in need of some serious home repairs (usually they bulldoze the house and start over).
Anyone familiar with the show knows that they only pick the saddest of sad stories. The hardest of hard-knock lives. The weepiest of weepfests.
“We are looking for the deserving people and inspiring families that America can really root for,” says casting supervisor Morgan Fahey.
They’re looking for families with determination and strength.
“We want to help people whose stories have really affected their community or made a big difference in other people’s lives,” Fahey says.
A big qualifier is the need, particularly something wrong with the house that is affecting the family. To be eligible, the family has to own their stand-alone home.
Interested families or community members should e-mail castingsouthcarolina@gmail.com. Nominations must include a contact number, the names and ages of every member of the home, and a description of the challenges they face with the home. And submissions should explain why the nominated family is deserving of the makeover. A photo of the family is preferred, if possible. The deadline is Aug. 7.
