The new Five Guys on King Street opened on Monday and has secured themselves a solid clientele already. At noon yesterday, the place was packed.

We imagine the new Jersey Mike’s on James Island will find the same sort of success. They officially opened today and are doing things right by holding a local, neighborhood benefit to raise money for the Murray-LaSaine elementary school.

Owners Andrew Brooks, Mark Loy, and Ryan Hendrix will give all the proceeds from their five-day fundraiser to the school’s music and arts department. They’ll be handing out coupons that you can exchange (along with a $1 donation) for a regular-sized sub.

Brooks, a James Island resident, says he jumped at the chance to open a location close to home. The store is located at 520 Folly Road in the Publix Shopping Center and will be open Mon.-Sat. 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m. and Sun., 11 a.m.-7 p.m. (843) 718-1606.
