Shepard Fairey’s Los Angeles studio was tagged with graffiti last week in a bizarre attempt to link Fairey’s iconic Obama art to ACORN, a nonprofit that is under fresh scrutiny after hidden camera video shows individuals in ACORN offices offering advice to a man and a woman claiming to be a pimp and his prostitute.
The graffiti including the ACORN logo, along with “ACORN funded prostitution zone.”
Fairey’s studio does not work with ACORN, his spokesman, Jay Strell, told the Washington Post.
“While we support free expression, it is ironic that … the conservatives and right-wingers who called pro-Obama art propaganda, and if it was posted publicly, they called it vandalism, are now vandalizing private property in their campaign against ACORN,” he said.
