We love how this year’s spate of movie theater openings/renovations has inspired some friendly competition between local companies. Cinebarre, the oldest of the newest theaters, has really been stepping it up recently with free screenings and outdoor shows.
Following the success of their free screening of the season premiere of Grey’s Anatomy, they’ve decided to make it a weekly event. Watch the show for free on the big screen inside at 9 p.m. every week. Thursdays are half-price pizza night, too!
Also this Thursday, Cinebarre is hosting the midnight premiere of Couples Retreat, starring Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau, Jason Bateman, Kristen Bell, Kristin Davis, and Malin Akerman. Tickets are $10.
On Sat. Oct. 10, they’re hosting a free outdoor screening of Almost Famous at 8 p.m. As always, bring cash for food, plus chairs and blankets.
Also mark your calendars for Oct. 15, the date for the midnight premiere of Spike Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are. The theater will host a pajama party in keeping with the bedtime story theme. Then on Oct. 17, Cinebarre is partnering with the Town of Mt. Pleasant to host a very special free screening of Ghostbusters under the Ravenel Bridge! Kids are encouraged to dress in their Halloween costumes.
