Slow Food Charleston, our favorite local eco-gastronomic nonprofit organization, gets a boon this Tuesday. Whole Foods in Mt. Pleasant has designated SFC its charity for 5% Day and will give it five percent of the day’s net sales.

Slow Food will have representatives on hand with plenty of information about the group, including their initiatives to promote healthy school lunches in public schools. The money they receive that day will go towards an organic garden they are tending with second graders at Stono Park Elementary School. The store opens at 8 a.m. and they’ll log sales until 9 p.m.
