Artists, it’s time to show us what you’ve got. A handful of organizations have recently put out a call for entries for a variety of artforms. The Charleston International Film Festival is holding a juried poster competition to select the image for the 2010 festival. There are no design guidelines, but entries should reflect the art of film and the creativity of the festival. The deadline is Jan. 4, 2010. See charlestoniff.com for more details.
The City of North Charleston’s Cultural Arts Department is seeking entries for the 2010 National Outdoor Sculpture Competition & Exhibition, which displays sculptures at Riverfront Park. North Chuck is also seeking entries for the 2010 South Carolina Palmetto Hands Fine Craft Competition & Exhibition — think works in clay, fiber, glass, metal, wood, and 3-D mixed media. Prizes for this competition total $6,500 and the deadline is March 19. Applications for both can be found at northcharleston.org.
Over Citadel-way, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences is seeking emerging and established S.C. artists to enter an exhibition that will be curated by cadets in an art history class. E-mail email@example.com for more info. Deadline is Feb. 1.
