It was a few holidays ago that Sen. Jim DeMint gave himself the name of “Earmark Grinch,” but we think he’s more along the lines of the dinged, damaged, and outdated on the Island of Misfit Toys.
With conservatives coming around to the burn-it-to-the-ground far right approach, it seemed like he was finally getting a few friends. Much like your Facebook page, it was just spam.
In a story today at The Hill, DeMint says he didn’t even want to run again because he was so tired of the reasonable people he kept running into in Washington.
DeMint said he decided to run for reelection in 2010 only after promising himself that he would try to change the ideological makeup of the Republican conference.
“I decided that I did not want to be here with the same people that I’ve been with before, Democrats, Republicans, everybody,” said DeMint. “I want some people [in the Senate] who are willing to stand up and go where America is going.”
