Outer Space is a new local arts organization and gathering spot on the scene. It’s essentially an artist- and volunteer-run public community space that "supports creative expression and information exchange among all people." Supporter Kim Larsen (of Oicho Kabu) hopes it will be accessible to everyone in the community (she says artists may contact her at outerspacemusicinfo@gmail.com for booking and info).

In mid-December, organizers signed a lease on the downtown space at 623 Meeting Street, located a few yards north of the Ravenel Bridge. They opened the complex with several performances by local acts Short Shorts, Big & Tall, and Oicho Kabu, among other guests.

Recent events have featured visiting electronic acts and DJs. Outer Space hosts a wedding-themed New Year’s party on Thurs. Dec. 31 at 8 p.m.
